If I know one thing, it is that we each have our own ways of dealing with our experiences when it comes to suffering and grief. Some of us want answers. Some of us want to find meaning in our suffering. We all have our differing ways. This is my experience and how I journey through my personal experience of grief and suffering. It has become clear to me that I can’t continue in the way I have been and expect to go unscathed. I believe there is hope. There is hope of a resurrection in Christ. There is hope that there is meaning to be had in our suffering.

This isn’t about flogging one self. This is about leaning in to the one who suffered and that our suffering can be united with His suffering. There is nobody other than Jesus that I have found to whom can walk with me in my suffering.

When we are alone in our suffering, who will sit with us?

Job had people who came to him with their advise. They spoke of things they knew nothing about. It took a very long time before Job had somebody who actually sat with him. Not even did Job’s wife understand as she told him, “why don’t you just curse God and die” Job refused. He trusted God.

I was talking to a local Priest. I shared with him a few things within our short 30 minute conversation. It wasn’t long enough! I shared about my near fatal motor vehicle accident and the details of my sisters passing. I was left with more questions then answers. This is the Catholic way lol Priests don’t give answers. They lead you to ask more questions. This is the way of Spiritual Direction. If we were to consider the Christian faith, we are called to take up our own Cross to follow Him.

If we each have our own Cross to carry and if the bible rings true, then He doesn’t give us more than what we can bear. With that, I believe that God’s grace is present in the Cross we carry to follow Him! From time to time our Cross may seem weighty.

It actually isn’t about the weightiness of the Cross we are called to bear. It is our willingness to trust in the grace of God when the Cross we are called to take up becomes heavy.
